Alpha Blondy

One of the biggest African musicians and the artist who has more than any other  helped to bring reggae back towards its roots on the African continent. Discovering reggae through Bob Marley and Burning Spear during a long stay in New York (where he graduated in economics in the 1970s), Alpha then returned to the Ivory Coast to begin an exceptional artistic adventure that brought about masterpieces such as ' Cocody rock ', ' Apartheid is nazism ', ' Jerusalem ' and ' Yitzak Rabin '. With his ' big roots band ' this artist has already delivered memorable concerts at Sunsplash, where essential roots reggae sound is fused with African influences.

Fantan Mojah

Is new Jamaican reggae, one of the most important interpreters of "new" roots "of the new millennium with hits like ' Hungry ' and ' Hail the King ' he is a living example of how Rastafari is still a driving force in the music scene and society on the island of reggae. This great Rastaman has also already shown his massive presence in previous editions of the Festival. All the best songs of the first part of his career were contained in his debut album ' Hail the King ' and his second entitled ' Stronger ' from 2008 was further evidence of his talent despite the been dropped by the label Downsound.

Sud Sound System

This beloved group was founded in the late 1980s, mixing Jamaican dancehall style with their Salentino dialect to tell stories about the everyday lives and hopes of the lives of young people of their land. Sud Sound System are simply the best dancehall act in Italy. Following on from their release ' Dammene yet ' in 2008, their latest release is ' Lately' which came out just a few days ago is yet another flagship of their excellent discography.

Arawak

were born in the spring of 2003. In the course of their professional career, they had the chance to open some bands gigs, such as Radici nel Cemento, Villa Ada, and the famous Catalan ska group: the Obrint Pass. In 2008, after a year of recording, their first album Roots Vibrations was released. After winning Bornasco Reggae Contest 2009, on June 25th they also won the Italian selections of the European Reggae Contest 2010 in Magnolia, Milano.

Sydney Salmon and Universal Vibes

Sydney Salmon has been singing and playing Reggae Music in Kinston Jamaica. He later became a member of the 12 Tribes of Israel converting to the Orthodox Faith. He then worked with the organisation music body producing hits such as "Africa Is Our home" "I Wonder" and Shashemane On My Mind". As a devout Rastafarian, he could no longer deny himself and took the bold step to leave his comfortable life in New York and repatriated to Ethiopia in 2001. He decided that he would concentrate on playing reggae music and to spread the message of Universal Justice and One Love working and fundraising for the Jamaican Rastafarian Development Community in Shashemane.

Mellow Mood

Mellow Mood are a band from Pordenone. They have been performing since 2005 all over the Italian North East.
In 2008 their intense activity earned them the participation in the Italia Wave Festival in Livorno. In May 2009 they won the Italian selections of the European Reggae Contest and they earned the  3rd place at the European finals. Their first Italian tour started in June 2009 and touched all the major festival and events in Northern and Southern Italy.

Playa Desnuda

Playa Desnuda were born in Udine in 2005 almost as a joke. The goal is to play easy listening beach songs, by dropping tight arrangements, and this is where the name comes from. The inspiration comes from Jamaican sounds and rhythms – ska, rocksteady and reggae mainly – and also from Motown soul and patchanka, as with Manonegra and Manu Chau.

Makako Jump 

Reggae Band from Trieste, 8 years of musical career during which they booked over 450 shows included over 15 European tours, from Rostock to Palermo.
Their new line up is filled with new lovely female vocals and the youngest talent outta the reggae hip hop local scene. (Dr.D, Shula, Martina Silla, Tadiman , Dj Color, MC Tubet)

Banda Berimbau 

Banda Berimbau is a Brazilian percussion group composed of a mix of musicians from various regions in Italy and various foreign countries. Formed in 1999 the group is based in Trieste and with hundreds of performances of various kinds under their belts they are undoubtedly among the most active and important in Italy.

Supersonic

Supersonic represents the traditional sound system. Founded in Berlin in 1998 this sound can present all styles related to Caribbean music, from ska to roots, from lovers to dancehall until the soca, with style and energy. If you go to a Supersonic dance, fun is guaranteed! In recent years they have played in many different countries including Kenya, Gambia, Israel, Trinidad, USA, Jamaica and almost everywhere in Europe, winning numerous clashes, among them the last was the tune fi tune against Mighty Crown.

Arbe Garbe

Arbe Garbe ("bad grass") are a band from Friuli. The group was formed in 1994 and play a mix of folk punk and rock music. Arbe Garbe are very active and are much loved for their live performances.

Dodi e I Monodi

Dodi & i Monodi, or just Monodi, are an Udine based band that was created in 1990 and is still active. For quite some years they have been the most popular group from their home city.
Their career was at its top in 1998 when they won the regional selections for Friuli-Venezia Giulia at Arezzo Wave rock festival.
Their latest album, which was self produced dates back to 2005.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights was born in Udine in the summer of 1999 out of a project called Northern Lights that in eleven years of activity as sound system has performed in various events such as Rototom Sunsplash, Slovenian RiverSplash,  in Switzerland and "bashment" throughout Italy (Milan, Rome, Bologna, Florence, Perugia, Pisa, Venice, Padua, Syracuse, Pescara,) promoting many important initiatives
