The extraordinary line-up that powers "Rototom Free" - the two day event held live in Udine at Cormor Park on 2nd and 3rd July – is a summary of some  vita alla parte musicale di “Rototom Free”, of the best reggae from around the world, from Africa to Jamaica and Berlin to Italy. The organisers of Rototom Sunsplash team up with Friuli once again: the aim is to recreate an intercultural atmosphere in the same place that was home of the most popular European reggae festival for the past 16 years. This year’s edition will be held in Benicàssim, Spain, from 21st to 28th August

One of the reasons "Rototom Free" will be a week-end not to be missed, is the wide range of discussions and debates that will be taking place in the "ad hoc" place at Parco del Cormor, where a huge marquee will house these very interesting meetings.
The main aim of these two days, is to think about the Italian situation, while chrisis is taxing to the limit, among private vices and public virtues, a political world hanging among populism and "casta" defence, witch hunts and fundamental suppression of rights.
The analysis will be focused on the meaning Italy nowadays gives to freedom of speech (discussed in the specific case of Rototom), and freedom in general.

Rototom Free is in honour of Friuli and freedom. We announced in the press conference in November that Sunsplash is abandoning Italy, however it is not stepping back from the cultural stuggle of the country. Rototom Free contributes to the vigorous cultural and economic growth of the land and is a tribute to this area. Rototom will be back in Friulli even if it is just for two days. This gem will be held in Udine in Parco del Cormor, Friday 2nd - Saturday 3rd July. It will be an intense run of reggae events and concerts. As a tribute to the sixteen years of Sunsplash, Alborosie (the famous Italian-Jamaican artist) will release "Rototom Free"
