From New Orleans to India to New York City, armed with little more than cheap thrift-store suits, the Yes Men squeeze raucous comedy out of all the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet.

LOS CAMINOS DE LA MEMORIA (2009) 91 mins. Dir. José Luis Peñafuerte
Language:  Spanish     Country:  Spain

Short documentary, Los Caminos De La Memoria is a cinematic journey through the darkest years of Spain's story,
though during the most grievous times of the dictatorship silence was maintained throughout the transition, perhaps for the fear of slowing the introduction of the democracy in to the nation.

Being a Spanish son of exiles, José Luis Peñafuerte explored his identity across this feature film in relation to the law of historical memory.  The was film born through the urgent need to be released from the oblivion of exiles and give justice to those who fought for the freedom of thought.

The archive images alternate between actress Marisa Paredes' story and the personal depositions, some of these return to the places that marked their lives.  Between intervening voices there is that of former Divided Communist manager Jorge Semprún, the anthropologist who studies the franco's crimes of Francisco Etxeberría and the President of the Recover Emilio Silva's History Association, besides those of the former political prisoners and orphans of war like Marcos Ana.  "Los caminos De the memory" was rewarded Best Film at Mérida Festival.
