The news that some of Bob Marley's sons had joined to form a band and the consequent release in 1982 of the first single of the Melody Makers “What a plot” was an important sign related to the ongoing of their father’s musical legacy. While the band also saw Sharon and Cedella in action, the role of singer and frontman was covered by the eldest son Ziggy, whose charisma was essential for the worldwide success of albums such as “Conscious party” (1988), “One bright day” (1989) and “Jahmekya” (1991).
While other sons of Bob sons were beginning their musical careers, Ziggy left the Melody Makers and moved on to start an important solo career that has seen him win 5 Grammy including for 2006 album “Love is my religion” and in 2009 for best children's album FAMILY TIME. At our Sunsplash, Ziggy will present his recent work "Wild & Free", which may de defined as his most personal and politically conscious album ever.
