Amnesty International celebrates its 50 years at Rototom

Amnistia_IntLast night, during the concert of the French Dub Inc., an enormous yellow baloon by Amnesty International was reaching the stage of the artists. It has been a little sign of the presence of the association inside the festival.

Amnesty, one of the biggest humanitarian organization in the world, has chosen the reggae Festival Rototom in order to celebrate together the 50th birthdays of the foundation created in 1961 by the English lawyer Peter Benenson. Amnesty's motto is "The world can change, but it can't change on its own".

In this edition of the festival the six volounteers of the association, of which Aria Escalona is in charge, have chosen a particular activity  with the children, beside the permanent stand to give info to whom is likely to know better Amnesty's activities. "Children represent our future - says Aria - , our new generations which could guarantee respect for human rights". For the little ones in the area "Magicomondo" the gam "Pide Deseo" (make a wish) is available, which consists on the search of the biography of five great activists who spent their lives to defend values and unassailable human rights. We are talkin about Aung San Suu Kyi, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Ngawang Sangdrol. Children have to associate the particular humanitarian fights to the right promoter of them. Who fought for freedom in Birmania? Which activist created civil disobedience? Who gave birth to the fight against racism? Once guessed the characters, the only thing left is to let yourself get photographed in the huge shape where the bodies of these 5 history myths have been laid. For all the people who would like to contact Amnesty International (España), the website is (www.es.amnesty.org). Congratulations Amnesty! Happy birthday! Buena suerte!
