After the resounding success of the first Spanish edition, the eighteenth Rototom Sunsplash edition will take place in the same location, Benicassim from the 18th to the 27th of August 2011, restoring the classical "Italian" 10 days lenght. It has been announced by the president of the cultural association Exodus, Filippo Giunta, during the press conference on friday 12th, where a review about the last edition has been made and some commitments for the 2011 have been already discussed.
Guinta considers the 2010 event to have been a success, while also noting that there is room for improvement in certain areas, and he is committed to addressing those next year: the campsite area, where places in the shadow will increase thanks to the 500 trees that will be planted also to balance out last festival's Co2 emissions; the scheduling on the beach and into town, which will be reinforced and extended to the days before and after the Sunsplash; and the relations with Benicassim citizens and the institutions that will be widened to make the event grow more and more.
Besides, it has been announced that, for Bob Marley's 30th death anniversary, one of the major points of reference for the reggae lovers, the festival will dedicate right to this great artist events and special activities.
Filippo Giunta finally exposed some data about Rototom Sunsplash' economic repercussion, that hosted 150people generating almost an economic impact of 7millions of euros on the territory on which takes place, exceeding the expectations, and on the media repercussion of dozens of countries.
Also the second mayor of Benicassim, Francesc Colomer, commented very positively the festival: "I celebrate this enormous success. After having seen the good Rototom results, listening to the failings directly from its president's mouth is something we have never seen before, which demonstrates the festival is made for honest people. Besides, I would like to stress a festival has never bounded itself so rapidly to the territory on which takes place, in such a small amount of time, exceeding the general expectations. I'm happy Rototom Sunsplash organization, a such honest festival, will remain in Benicassim and I hope so for the years to come as well."
The Government South-delegate Antonio Miguel Lorenzo wanted to mark two aspects about Rototom:" I hope the festival will consolidate inside the cultural-turistic field and carry on creating opportunities, but I also want to stress Rototom insisted on a very important element: the culture of peace". Moreover, he wanted to report the success of the festival from the security point of view:"The rate of arrests has been extremely low and for minor issues and the collaboration between Rototom security and law and order forces made of this event an example of tranquillity and normality, an authentic success as it regards safety."Finally he wanted to thank the organization "for staying here betting on Castellon and consolidating it as a quality turistic location".
